ARC Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to do if I want to make changes to the outside of my home?
If you wish to make any change to the exterior of you home, you need to obtain the
appropriate ARC review application from this web site. If you do not have access
to the web site or able to down low the application, contact a member of the ARC
who should be able to assist you. Once you have filled out the form, you need to
submit it to the SpringWood Homeowners Association, P. O. Box 462, Belle Chasse, LA 70037
or to head of the ARC.
When do I need to submit a review application to the Architectural Review Committee (ARC)?
The Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions provides that ANY change of the
exterior portion of our houses, including the erection of structures on the
premises, must be approved by the ARC. This requirement includes not only all
house paint, but also window design and all exterior structures such as: patios,
walkways, fences, walls, large hedges, sheds, doghouses, awnings, TV antennas,
and roof structures. Because the intent and/or scope of projects are not always
clear, it is suggested the homeowner coordinate directly with the ARC.
Who do I submit an ARC review application to?
Once you have filled out the appropriate application, you need to submit
it to the SpringWood Homeowners Association, P. O. Box 462, Belle Chasse, LA 70037
or to head of the ARC.
Why should I submit an ARC review application?
The best reason for preparing a review application is to clarify
your request both in the homeowner’s mind, and for approval by the
architectural review committee. By filling out the form, to include attaching
drawings and brief specifications to the form, the owner is forced to
plan the project thoroughly. By thorough planning, the planned modifications
and/or additions stand a better chance of success. No project will be approved
unless submitted on the appropriate ARC review application.
What is the Architectural Review Committee (ARC)?
The ARC reviews applications for exterior improvements to the home or lot.
The ARC is established and defined in the Declaration of Covenants and
Restrictions for the Association. The spirit behind the ARC is to uphold
the aesthetic quality of the neighborhood and to protect the value of
your home by maintaining the standards set forth in the Declaration.
What if I make changes to my property without ARC approval?
Everyone must seek ARC approval in writing before making external changes to
their property. If you make changes without ARC approval, your investment
could be at risk. Additionally, if your modifications are outside the guidelines
of the ARC, you may be required to remove or reverse your improvement.
If I get a building permit from Plaquemines Parish Permit Office, do I still need ARC approval?
Yes. Approval from the parish permit office does not constitute approval
from the ARC. The ARC still requires that your plans be submitted in writing for review.
If the ARC approves the modification for my neighbor, can I assume that the
same modification will be approved for me?
No. Each property and project is different. Applications are reviewed and
based on the individual characteristics and circumstances for each property.
Always submit for ARC approval before making changes to your property.
